Bellbrae - Moongate Studios & Galleries

Moongate Studios is a unique artist's gallery and sculpture garden nestled among peaceful bushland just a few minutes from Bells Beach. Created by acclaimed Australian artists Geo and Jan Francis, the property combines a handcrafted mudbrick home, working studios, gallery and landscaped gardens, making it one of the Surf Coast's most distinctive artistic destinations.

Visitors can browse an ever-changing collection of original paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and mixed-media artworks, with many pieces inspired by the Surf Coast, Australian landscapes and the artists' extensive international travels. The gallery also showcases a selection of public art commissions and sculptures displayed throughout the gardens, allowing visitors to experience art in a natural bushland setting.

Geo and Jan Francis have worked together for more than 50 years and have received numerous national and international awards for their artistic achievements. Their work can be found in public and private collections throughout Australia and overseas, and they continue to undertake commissioned artworks for councils, businesses and private clients.

Unlike a traditional commercial gallery, Moongate Studios offers visitors the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their creative process and explore a working studio environment.

Opening Hours:

The gallery is open by appointment on most days, with regular public opening on the first Sunday of each month (10:00 am - 4:00 pm). Opening times may vary, so it is recommended to contact the gallery before visiting.
