Balmoral - Red Gum Walk

The Balmoral Red Gum Walk follows the Glenelg River through river red gums and wetlands on the eastern side of Balmoral. It is also known as the Glenelg River Wetlands and River Walk.
The walk can be reached from a dirt access track off Rocklands Road or from the end of Glendinning Street.

Features include:

Walking track beside the Glenelg River
River red gums and wetland habitat
Old river ford used from the early settlement period until the 1940s
Park bench near the former river crossing
Interpretive signs about the old ford and Balmoral's history
Information about local Indigenous history
Waterlilies when conditions are suitable
Birdlife including spoonbills, black swans, herons, ducks and swamp hens
Possible platypus sightings

Access:

From Balmoral, travel east along Rocklands Road and use the dirt track shortly before the 80 km/h speed sign. Alternatively, park at the end of Glendinning Street and walk downhill towards the river and wetlands.

Access for Dogs:

No official dog-access information is published. Check signs at the entrances and keep dogs leashed and away from wildlife and wetland habitat. Assistance animals are permitted.
