Ballarat Gold Trail



This two hour, 40km long, drive visits 16 key sites associated with Ballarat's mining history, many of which remain relatively unchanged since the 1850s. The tour provides a clear perspective on the marvellous orientation the city enjoys and features information on the life of the characters, culture and events that shaped Ballarat's goldmining industry.

Ballarat Gold Trail sites include the Sovereign Hill lookout, the Centenary of Gold Discovery Monument, the Gold Museum, the Eureka Lead & Miners' Cottages, the Chinese Village and Gold Monument (opposite Llanberris Reserve), the Band of Hope & Albion Consoles Mine on Darling Street, De Soza Park in Buninyong, and the existing operations at the Ballarat Goldfields a modern mine operation in Mount Pleasant.

Start at Discovery Monument (Cnr Sturt Street and Albert Street, Ballarat) or Victoria Park.
