Apollo Bay - Marriners Lookout
Perched high above Apollo Bay, Marriners Lookout offers one of the finest panoramic views along the Great Ocean Road. A short (1km return) but fairly steep walk leads to a viewing area overlooking Apollo Bay, the sweeping crescent of beach, the Southern Ocean and the rolling Otway ranges.
The site is also a popular take-off point for hang gliders, so you may get the chance to see them launching.
To get to the lookout, drive a few minutes north from Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road, and turn into Marriners Lookout Road. Drive to the end of the road where there is a carpark. There is a path with a gate to the lookout on the west side of the carpark.
After a rainy week the path was very muddy and wet and branches had been placed down so people didn't get their shoes saturated. There was even a decent sized waterfall on the side of the track.
Once we navigated the mud, the views were fantastic and we even saw a wallaby.
Gladys and Norman Henriksen kindly donated the land for this track for all to enjoy. Please respect the private property surrounding it.
- Strictly no littering, camping or alcohol consumption.
- No trespassing beyond the fence.
- No visitor access between 10.00 pm and 6.00 am.
