Yarraville Tennis Club

The Yarraville Tennis Club has provided tennis in the Yarraville/Footscray area since 1914, and is one of the leading clubs in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.

The club is located adjacent to the Yarraville Gardens and is easily accessed from the Westgate Bridge and from Footscray Road. Yarraville Tennis Club boasts four well-maintained en tout cas courts and four Plexipave courts. A modern lighting system has been installed on all courts.

The club provides competition tennis for adults and juniors, social tennis and coaching.

Interclub Competitions
Weekends - Western Region Tennis Association (WRTA) - Summer and winter graded competition is played on Saturday afternoons in the Western Region. There are two formats: a team of four comprised of two women and two men, or a team of only two persons. Summer competition begins in October and entries for teams close in August. Winter tennis begins in April and entries close in February.

Weekends - Tennis Victoria Pennant - This more advanced graded competition is played throughout metropolitan Melbourne from April until August. Men's, Women's and Veterans' teams (for players over 35 years of age) are entered for competition on Saturday or Sunday, mornings or afternoons. Teams consist of four players who play singles and doubles on alternate weeks. Veterans' teams play doubles only.

Weekday evenings - Western Suburbs Night Tennis Competition - This is a doubles-only competition with four players per team. The competition is played against other clubs in the Western region over two seasons - February to June and July to December.
Men's - Tuesday evenings
Women's - Wednesday evenings

Weekdays - Western Suburbs Mid-Week Ladies Competition - This is a doubles-only competition with five players per team. The competition is played against other clubs in the Western region over two seasons - February to June and July to December.

Junior Interclub Competitions
Western Region Tennis Association (WRTA) - This competition is for juniors 18 and under. It is a graded competition played in summer and winter on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the Western Region. The format is mixed teams of four players. Summer competition begins in October and entries for teams close in August. Winter tennis begins in April and entries close in February.

Social Tennis Competitions
Yarraville Tennis Club Social Night Tennis competitions are open to members and non-members and cater for intermediate level tennis players in a relaxed environment. After a grading session, players are matched with other players at around their level. Matching alters from week to week depending on how you scored in the preceding week. Our system of adjusting groups weekly ensures players are matched with other players of similar ability.

Coaching
Our club coach, Adam Vergis, from Alpha Tennis, runs a variety of programmes for kids and adults, including:

Pee Wee Tennis for four to six year olds
Junior groups for six to 18 year olds
School holiday clinics
Mid-week ladies tennis programmes
Private lessons
