Yarra Valley Hockey Club (Bellfield)

Yarra Valley Hockey Club (Bellfield)

Yarra Valley Hockey Cub has a history that stands tall. Formed in 1977, Yarra presents the amalgamation of two long-standing clubs: the Fairfield Hockey Club, established over a century ago in 1906, and the Ivanhoe Hockey Club, established in 1930.

The club, which draws players from the local council areas along the general inner Yarra River areas - Banyule, Darebin, Yarra and Nillumbik councils - operates from a state-of-the-art facility at the Cyril Cummins Reserve.

Representative Teams
Our Yarra Valley Hockey Club Junior players have a number of opportunities to be selected (and represent our Club) in various forms of representative hockey teams and competitions at the regional, state, and national levels. And in recent years, many of our talented Junior players have had some tremendous success in making teams at all of these levels.

Men's Hockey

The men's side of Yarra Valley Hockey Club welcomes hockey players of all abilities and experience levels, including Premier League for players looking to commit to playing high grade competitive hockey, as well as social and development teams for players wanting to play casually or who are new to the sport.

Yarra Valley Hockey Club have 5 teams entered in Hockey Victoria's Men's winter season.

Premier League & Premier League Reserve Squad
The Premier League and Premier League Reserves squad train on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are for players who want to commit to playing in Hockey Victoria's to grade of hockey. Squad training includes both teams as well as any players hoping to develop their hockey and be considered for selection in Yarra Valley's Top Team.

Pennant and Metro Teams
Yarra's Pennant and Metro Teams train on Wednesday nights and the teams are suitable for experienced players who would like to play more socially rather than competitively as well as players with less hockey experience or who have never played before. Yarra's Pennant and Metro teams are also great for juniors looking to play senior hockey.

Women's Hockey

Yarra Valley Hockey Club provides women hockey players the opportunity to play hockey at a variety of levels, catering for the individual skill levels of all players. We have competitive and social teams, providing a suitable grade for all skill levels.

Yarra Valley Hockey Club has teams in 4 grades.

Our trainings combine skill and match development for all teams, with a heavier focus on fitness for the Premier League & Reserves teams. While on-field success is important, we also have a heavy focus on club culture, with monthly team dinners and team-bonding events. Yarra also offers a variety of social events throughout the season to improve morale and connectedness among players at the club.

Masters Hockey

Yarra Valley Hockey Club has a thriving Masters group. New members, whether new players or with previous experience, are warmly invited to join.

Perhaps your experience dates back to school days, or maybe you played club hockey in your younger days, but life (work, children, etc.) interrupted a possible stellar hockey career. This is a chance to get back into it. It is important to note that experience is not necessary, or even a good knowledge of the game, just the basics will do. It's a matter of just getting out there and having a run around and building friendships with other parents and players.
