Traralgon - Stratford Gippsland Plains Scenic Drive

Traralgon - Stratford Gippsland Plains Scenic Drive

This drive is a great way to escape the M1 Princes Highway as an alternative route between Traralgon and Stratford. It takes you through small and historic townships, each with their own attractions worth a stop along the way.

Taste the 5 star rated wines at Narkoojee Winery and purchase a bottle of your favourite to take with you on the road or have a refreshing ale at the Glengarry Hotel. Then on to Heyfield which services the timber and dairy industries, you can admire the Mechanics Institute Hall or the Ned Stringers Memorial.

As you come into Cowwarr keep an eye out for those cows! Colourful and quaint, these cows add to the character of this tiny town. The Cowwarr Weir is a popular spot for swimming and canoeing and is the perfect setting for a picnic.

As you pass through Heyfield, stop at the Wetlands Centre to see the display on the timber industry and a leisurely walk around the wetlands.

Tinamba is home to the Tinamba Food and Wine Festival held annually in April. If you are a foodie you will enjoy dining on Gippsland wines and produce at the Tinamba Hotel.

Maffra is the largest town on the drive and is a great opportunity to park the car and wander the main street and browse the local shops and cafes. Visit the gemstone and mineral collection at the Maffra Courthouse or be amazed at the wonderful collection of vintage cars on display at the Gippsland Vehicle Collection.

The last stretch of the C105 joins the Princes Highway at Stratford on the Avon River.
