The Ranch (Cape Schanck)
The Ranch is a 200 acre adventure park located in Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. The Ranch offers school camps, accommodation, horse riding, mountainboarding, weddings, kids parties and so much more!
Opening Hours:
The Ranch is CLOSED to the general public Monday - Friday during the school term, as we run midweek school camps.
The Ranch is open every weekend for horse experiences, adventure activities and parties.
Horse Riding
The Ranch offers fully supervised horse rides for beginner and intermediate riders. The spectacular scenery, beautiful horses and our helpful, friendly staff combine for a memorable experience.
Horse experiences include:
Pony Ride & Animal Nursery Experience (available for ages 18 months to 9 years)
Your kids will be able to sit on one of our horses or ponies and be lead around by one of experienced team members. Following this they will head into our Animal Nursery, where they will meet a selection of our farm animals including our calves, lambs, goats, chickens and miniature ponies.
Fundamentals (available for 7yo+)
Feeling a bit nervous? Our Fundamentals experience is created for those who would like to learn a bit more about the tack (what goes on the horses) as well as the fundamentals of horse riding before putting it into action on one of our horses!
Beginner Ocean View Trail (available for 7yo+)
The beginner ride is a 45 min trail that takes you on horse back through the rolling hills of our 200 acre property with spectacular views of Bass Strait. This is a walk only ride.
Intermediate Ocean View Trail (available for 7yo+)
The Intermediate ride is a 45 min trail that takes you on horse back through the rolling hills of our 200 acre property with spectacular views of Bass Straight. Walk and trot ride.
Introductory Ocean View Trail (available for 7yo+)
The introductory ride is a half hour trail for the nervous rider or rider who would prefer to do shorter trail. Head out on horse back through the rolling hills of our 200 acre property with spectacular views of Bass Straight. This is a walk only ride.
A horse will be selected for you based on your ability, size and age. You will then be assisted on to your horse using our mounting blocks for ease. Our staff will support you throughout the ride, offering safe riding techniques, encouragement and friendly banter.
We want people of all ages and ability to be able to enjoy our horses whether it's a pony ride, grooming experience, beginner or experienced trail, or equine therapy.

Mountainboarding
Mountainboarding is the latest in action sports. Originally started as a way of snowboarding all year round, it has quickly become a fully-fledged sport of its own.
It is a crossover between skateboarding and snowboarding, with elements of other action sports such as BMX. The Ranch is home to the only purpose built Mountainboard Park in Australia. Boasting beginner downhill trails, a border cross track for the more experienced, as well as a freestyle area to practise your jumps and tricks for the more advanced. Our world class course is one-of-a kind.
Our team of expert instructors can teach and develop skills and techniques in this truly unique sport. Be it a private lesson, group lesson or birthday party - Hit the Switch and come and give it a go!!
