Sandringham Life Saving Club

Sandringham Life Saving Club

Sandringham Life Saving Club has something for everyone, and we welcome and encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and physical backgrounds to become involved at the club. The main functions of the club are to provide beach patrols to the Sandringham community throughout the summer months; and educate children and adults in water safety.

Sandringham Life Saving Club provides a range of different opportunities for members to participate and develop their skills and knowledge. Members can participate in all areas of the club including beach patrols, club programs, competition and life saving courses and awards. Members have the use of club facilities and equipment. There are also a number of social functions and events that members can be involved in throughout the year. Whilst the club has many activities and events, all of these contribute in some way to supporting the club's primary function of providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for all visitors to Sandringham beach. We encourage all members to become active members of our club. Sandringham Life Saving Club provides training to develop skills and proficiencies required to become actively involved as beach patrollers and first aiders along with other roles to support our club programs, such as Nippers. There is also a range of other areas beside the traditional beach and water activity roles that you can be involved in to assist the running of the club. Joining a Lifesaving Club is a unique and rewarding experience that can ultimately change your life and the lives of the Victorian beach going public.

Nippers - Nippers is a great way for children to make friends, be active, and enjoy the beach in a safe environment. We currently have around 180 children actively participating in the Sandringham Nipper program, which runs on Saturday afternoons throughout summer. We have started our Cadet program to bridge the gap between Nippers and Patrollers and is open to all nippers in the U13 age group with an aim to prepare Nippers for their Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and have an easy transition onto the patrol team when they turn 13. Cadets have a special group as part of nippers and are encouraged to work with and mentor the younger nippers, as well as having the opportunity to attend leadership camps hosted by Life Saving Victoria.
