Pyalong Trestle Bridge

Pyalong Trestle Bridge

Take this rare opportunity to view a largely intact timber trestle bridge over Mollison Creek which was first built in 1889. The distinctive construction method used to build this bridge makes it architecturally significant to Victoria and is visited by train buffs from all over the country.

It was constructed for the Victorian Railways in 1889 by McDermott & Sons for the Victorian Railways along the Wandong-Bendigo line, in Pyalong.

The line was primarily used to deliver timber shafts to the Bendigo mines before it closed in 1968. Wool and sheep were also transported on this line.

Please note that due to the poor condition of the bridge and the risk it poses to the community, the road section underneath the bridge (Bridge Street) is closed to the public.

Location: East end of Bridge Street near the Seymour - Pyalong Road.
