Port Melbourne Tennis Club
The Port Melbourne Tennis Club was established in 1885. In the early 1970s the club was relocated to the current site at Morris Reserve to allow for the development of the Graham Street overpass.
At that time the number of courts were increased from two to three en tout cas courts and the current club house was built.
The club is incorporated and managed by committee of management elected annually by the members.
Competition
At present the club has a Ladies team playing Saturday afternoons and four junior teams playing Saturday morning tennis.
Night Tennis - Competition play is now available for members and non members alike.
Monday Nights - This is a men's competition - 10 week comp plus 2 weeks for the finals - starting at 7pm - intermediate standard. The club provides the use of the courts, the lights and tennis balls each week. At the end of the comp trophies are provided to the winners.
Tuesday Nights - This is a mixed doubles competition - 10 week comp plus 1 week for the finals starting at 7pm - social standard. The club provides the use of the courts, the lights and tennis balls each week. At the end of the comp trophies are provided to the winners.
Wednesday Nights - This is a men's competition - 10 week comp plus 2 weeks for the finals - starting at 7pm - socially-competitive standard. The club provides the use of the courts, the lights and tennis balls each week. At the end of the comp trophies are provided to the winners.
Social Tennis
Midweek Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Start at 8.30am - until 10 am. All standards welcome
Sunday Social 9am - this is a good time for prospective members to come and try things.
Coaching
The Coaching Director is Dimitrios Hatziioannou from Metro Tennis.
