Ormond Tennis Club (Ormond)
Ormond Tennis Club was established in the 1920's and has operated continuously since that time. The club has around 200 members from the local community with many social players and a number of teams playing in junior and adult competitions. Newcomers are encouraged to turn up for a hit at the social mixed tennis night each Wednesday evening. Coaching is available to all members.
Facilities include five en-tout-cas courts (four courts with lights), clubhouse (includes kitchen, dining room, club room, showers, toilets, etc.) and off street parking. Members can also book to play in the evening under lights on two courts (fees apply).
Competition Tennis:
Senior Competition - Ormond Tennis Club has Ladies' Mixed and Men's teams in the Saturday afternoon Bayside Regional Tennis Association winter and summer competitions, and also enter teams in the Victorian Pennant Competition in winter.
Junior Competition - Juniors play in the Moorabbin and Districts Junior Tennis Association (MDJTA) 18 and under team competition held on Saturday mornings.
Junior Teams - Four players per team play each week, each person playing one set of singles and one set of doubles (first to six games). Teams will normally be made up of more than four members, in which case they will be rostered off some weeks to cover for absences as required. Player placement within a team, as well as grading and team make-up, will be based on MDJTA statistics from the previous season.
Chris and Colin Price are available to provide coaching for all members of the Ormond Tennis Club. They are certified tennis professionals with both Tennis Australia and Tennis Victoria and are members of TCAV.
