Olympic Park Oval Athletics Track (Melbourne)

Olympic Park Oval Athletics Track (Melbourne)

Olympic Park Oval is located on the site of Melbourne's former Olympic Park track, which was demolished in 2011.

The Oval is primarily utilised as the training ground of the Collingwood Football Club and as a venue for some of the club's Victorian Football League matches.

The venue is accessible by the public outside of Collingwood's training times. It is managed by the Melbourne & Olympic Park Trust.

Around the perimeter of the oval is a 507m long synthetic track with three non-standard width lanes.

Next to the oval is a statue commemorating a famous moment from the 1956 Australian Championships at Olympic Park, where John Landy stopped to help the fallen Ron Clarke. Landy went on to win the race in front of a crowd of 22,000 people.

The 507m synthetic track has three non-standard width lanes in the circular section and 1 lane in the straight section.

There is no long jump pits, high jump fans, discus circles, shot put circles, javelin runways, water jump, pole vault pits or hammer circles.
