Minta Hilltop Fantasy Playground, Soho Boulevard, Berwick
After extensive community consultation, the theme of 'Fantasy' was voted the most popular for the playground and the $3.5 million park is designed to bring many favourite childhood fairy tales to life.
The centrepiece of the fantasy-themed playground and park is a huge three-tiered castle which has lots of levels reached by steps and bridges. On the side of the castle are ladders, climbing walls, scrambling walls and plenty of slides including a huge tunnel slide, wave slide, wide straight slide, twisty slide and a smaller tunnel slide - this is a place for slide aficionados.
Running down one side of the playground area are some lovely colourful umbrellas and seats, two slides which lead down to the next level, log climbing area around a tree holding a golden egg, sandpit with digger and sand play (under shade sails), musical poles to hit, five swings including two with harnesses under the shade sails.
In the forecourt of the castle is a life-size knight's horse to ride, Excalibur's sword stuck in a stone, birds nest swing and spinning carousel.
On the side is Sherwood Forest with tepees (keep an eye open for Robin Hood and be careful of stray arrows), log steppers and springer.
At the top level are three shelters with tables, unshaded tables, BBQs and water tap.
There are toilets, circular bike path and outdoor gym at a level below the main playground area plus a grassy play area.
The playground is spread over a large area and it can be difficult to keep track of multiple kids, especially of different ages.
