Cockatoo - Gembrook Multi-Use Trail

Cockatoo - Gembrook Multi-Use Trail

This 12 km return route is not currently very well sign posted. From the starting point at the corner of McBride Street and Belgrave-Gembrook Road (where there is a car park), follow a path beside the Belgrave - Gembrook Road to the south east past Cockatoo Primary School. Diverge off this main road onto the Old Gembrook Road which becomes a gravel path. There is a chance to see Puffing Billy along this part of the route.

After a time you will reach an intersection where the Fielder train station is located. At this point the path crosses the Belgrave - Gembrook Road and continues to the north along Fielder Road. You may catch a sight of the llamas in the paddocks on the left as you make your way uphill to connect with the Belgrave - Gembrook Road again.

Cross the road and stop at the Mapleridge stall which sells delicious food such as jams, vegetables, fruit cakes, shortbreads and eggs.

The path now runs beside a row of trees and the railway line with open paddocks on the sides. The track passes Gembrook sports ground and goes over a bridge. After crossing the train track to be on the southern side of the track, you follow a track along Station Road and pass around the outskirts of Gembrook until the final destination at JAC Russell Park where Puffing Billy recharges for the trip back to Belgrave.

Along the route there are no bins, water tap or seats to rest on.

This route connects with the Emerald-Cockatoo Multi-Use Trail.
