Pines Beach (Shoreham)

Pines Beach (Shoreham)

Between Shoreham and Flinders, the coast trends south-south-west and consists of steep, 20 to 40 m high, grassy bluffs. The bluffs are fronted by 100 m wide intertidal reef flats, with a series of narrow, sandy, high tide beaches. These four beaches, of which Pines Beach is one, are all backed by private farmland, and public access is by foot along the shoreline.

Pines Beach is 1.2 km long, backed by bluffs and fronted by the reef flat that narrows toward the centre.

The beach has wide, exposed, continuous reef flats at low tide, so bathing is best at mid to high tide.

The beach is remote and backed by private property and is only accessible from Shoreham Beach in the north, and by foot along the shore.

The beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)

Review:

A long inaccessible beach with lots of rocks and seaweed.
