T H Westfield Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Clifton Hill)

T H Westfield Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Clifton Hill)

There is a carpark on the western side with toilets and bin. Just down the hill from the car park is a huge shelter with tables, BBQ and water tap with bowl. Dogs must be on leash within 5m of the picnic area and sealed trails.

There are huge grassy areas dotted with trees which is bordered by busy Heidelberg Road on the northern side and thick, steep bush beside Merri Creek on the southern side. This bush area would be prone to snakes in summer. There is a path, the Westfield Extension of the Main Yarra Trail, which passes through the reserve. The trail crosses Heidelberg Road to the north and enters an on leash area comprising Oldis Gardens and an oval.

A very strong note of caution - just south of the toilets there are extremely high and steep cliffs next to the creek. There is no signage that steep cliffs exist. I will be contacting Parks Victoria about this situation.

The T H Westfield Reserve is part of a very large off leash area which is part of Yarra Bend Park. The dog off leash area extends from Heidelberg Road in the north and is bordered by Yarra Bend Road on the eastern side and Merri Creek on the western side. The dog off leash area to the south extends past the Eastern Freeway to Deep Rock Road. There area also pockets which are off leash at the corner of Will Street and Redmond Street plus Andrews Reserve along the Yarra Boulevard.
