Yarra Bend Park Dog Off Leash Area (Fairfield)

Yarra Bend Park is set on over 223 hectares of natural bushland, close to the heart of the city. The park surrounds the Yarra River for 12 kilometres. Walking trails throughout the park and along the river contain information about the Aboriginal and European history of the area, as well as flora and fauna found in the area. Yarra Bend and Studley Park golf courses are both within the boundaries of the park. Other facilities include a rope course, playground, nurseries, a fly casting pool, kiosk, boat ramp, BBQs, playground, information shelters, picnic shelters and toilets. Dogs are permitted in most of Yarra Bend Park. See local signage and this map for restrictions.

Yarra Bend Park provides walking trails of easy to moderate difficulty levels. Sights such as Dights Falls, Galatea Point, river views and abundant birdlife are some of the highlights to be discovered along Yarra Bend trails. Walks include the Bushland Circuit Trail (850m loop), Andrews Reserve Trail (1.2km), Dights Falls Loop Trail (4.2km) and Westfield Extension to the Dights Falls Loop Trail (6.3km).

On the trail between the Studley Park Boathouse and Dights Falls, there is the former location of the Deep Rock Swimming & Life Saving Club which was established at the site in 1906 operated until the 1940s. This area has an embankment of flat boulders to provide access to the river from the river bank. These stone steps are used by lots of dogs to go for a dip in the river.
