Ardrie Park Dog Off Leash Area (Malvern East)

Ardrie Park Dog Off Leash Area (Malvern East)

One of the most beautiful parks in Melbourne but dogs are allowed on the oval only which is at the Howard Street end. The area where dogs need to be on-leash has a fenced playground, tennis court and gardens.

The off-leash area at the south end of the park has lovely grassy area bordered by gardens and a wonderful path of Dutch Elm trees. This serpentine avenue of Dutch Elms was planted as twelve-year-old trees in 1918, originally having been removed from Paxton Street, Malvern East. These are some of the only examples in Melbourne of elms that have never been pollarded (removing the upper branches of the tree to restrict its height), so they retain their natural form. Around this area there are shaded tables, water taps with bowl, bins and seats.
