Markham Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Ashburton)

Markham Reserve is a very large reserve which has grassy areas, a fenced playground and an oval at the western end.

At the eastern end of the reserve near the homes opposite Halifax Court there is a bin and water tap without a bowl. At this end a shared use trail, which has fairly limited bicycle traffic, crosses under Warrigal Road, initially runs along the south side of the reserve and then crosses over to the north side and continues past the western end of the reserve.

The southern border of the reserve is thick bush which surrounds Gardiners Creek. In summer this area would have the potential for snakes to be present.

The grassy area is very wide at around 100 metres. Next to the fenced playground, which is in the middle of the reserve is a bin and water tap without a bowl. Dogs must be on leash within 10m of the playground area.

A bit further to the west is another water tap with a bowl next to a shelter with a table and seats. There are also some unshaded seats scattered along the reserve. The grassy part of the reserve only has a few trees for shade. At the western end is an oval with soccer goal posts at each end plus a bin and water tap.
