Somers beach is 700m long and is located on the south-eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula.
There is off street parking at Somers Beach Parking Area on Miramar Road which has the "hundred steps" wooden staircase leading down to the beach. At the car park there is a bin.
There is 300 metres of sandy beach, west from the bottom of "hundred steps" where dogs are allowed off leash with some time restrictions. The reasonably wide, sandy beach is bordered by a wooden wall with wooden steps down from houses. The beach is rocky near the hundred steps staircase but becomes sandy as you move west. At the point where a path comes down to the beach and there are a number of upturned boats, the end of the dog off leash area is reached. From this point dogs are prohibited.
Note: To the east of the bottom of "hundred steps" is another area with unrestricted off leash access for dogs.
Access for Dogs:
During Daylight Savings
- Dogs are prohibited from the beach between 9am and 7pm.
- Leash free from 7pm to 9am the next day.
All Other Times of the Year
- Leash free at all times.
