Mordialloc Beach Dog Off Leash Area (Mordialloc)

Mordialloc Beach is a 1 km long beach running north from Mordialloc Creek. It is backed by an extensive foreshore reserve, that has a number of facilities including the pier, a large car park, park and picnic areas.

Access for Dogs:


For the northern part of the beach (north of High Street) the following regulations apply:

Summer Foreshore Dog Regulations (1 November - 31 March)
  • Between sunrise and 10am dogs are permitted off leash on sand only
  • Between 10am and 7:30pm dogs are prohibited on sand
  • Between 7:30pm and sunrise dogs must be on leash on sand

Winter Foreshore Dog Regulations (1 April - 31 October)
  • Between 11am and 3pm it is an on leash area.
  • At all other times of the day it is an off leash area on sand only.

For the southern part of the beach, between High Street and Mordialloc Creek, the following regulations apply:

No dogs are allowed on the beach at any time and the area is an intertidal zone which is protected to a depth of two metres.

There is 24 hour no dog zone all along the beach area including paths, vegetated and sand areas, although horses are allowed for swimming only before 10 am in front of Horse Paddock Car Park. Note: Dogs are permitted on-leash on the Beach Road shared path.
