Tread Sculptures (Bend of Islands)

Tim Read is a metal art sculptor who works with reclaimed steel. He derives his inspiration from nature, the unique materials he finds and his deep spirituality.

Tread Sculptures is a metal art studio which operates from Tim's family home on the Bend of Islands. The studio showcases Tim's original work which is available for sale and commission. Tim also collaborates with other local artists and these incredible pieces are also on display in the studio.

A Sculpture Trail has been created in the gardens. After you have visited the studio Tim will give you a map and you can wander along the Sculpture Trail taking in the beauty of this untouched part of the world and enjoy the installation art and sculptures dotted profusely along the way. An enjoyable way to spend a few hours with the whole family. You will come away feeling refreshed and inspired and the kids will love it.

Access for Dogs:

Sorry, but no dogs on the trail. The area is 634 hectares of natural bushland combining environmental conservation with residential use. The zoning ensures flora and fauna are protected by strict regulations prohibiting the introduction of non-indigenous plants and the keeping of pets or livestock including cats, dogs, horses or cattle.

Review:

After a nice drive beside the Yarra River to the Bend of Islands followed by a short section of narrow gravel road to Tread sculptures, we were presented by a wonderland of interesting sculptures made from reclaimed steel.

When you arrive, pop into the studio and have a chat with the friendly artist Tim Read. There is also a Kids Adventure Map which shows the location of some of the main sculptures. It makes the sculpture trail more fun for the kids if they are also hunting for the sculptures on the map. Your hunting skills could be at novice level and still manage to find all the sculptures (unless they have been sold recently).

All the sculptures are for sale and would make spectacular additions to your garden. The simplest sculptures are around $400-500 while the most complex are in the thousands.

The sculpture trail can be a little muddy after rain but is manageable if you don't go too fast.
