Cross Keys Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Essendon)

Cross Keys Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Essendon)

The reserve is huge and has a number of fields but the dog off leash area is only a small fraction of the space at the extreme eastern end. There is also a small piece of bushland which leads to the shared use trail running along the southern edge of the reserve. There is no parking in this part of the reserve and you will need to walk on leash from the car park and pavilion area where there is a bin and water tap. The reserve is home to the Essendon Royals soccer club.

In the south west corner of the reserve, near the car park and pavilion, is an interesting totem pole sculpture with seats made from River Redgum, pier pylons and basalt rock. It is part of the Moonee Ponds Creek totems by Glenn Romanis This totem features a boomerang and a spearhead, representing the creek's Aboriginal history.
