Kimberley Reserve Fenced Dog Park (Chirnside Park)

Kimberley Reserve Fenced Dog Park (Chirnside Park)

A dog park which is fully fenced but doesn't have gates to "lock" the dogs in. They can come and go as they please.

It is located at the back behind the first football ground. It includes an agility area, tunnel and gardens to explore, logs to sit on and a water tap.

Review:

This is a quirky and interesting fenced dog park located on the north west side of the reserve. Unfortunately the council has created two ornate entrances made from wooden logs but has NO gate which is a real pity because the point of a fenced dog park is that dogs can enjoy themselves but not escape.

The fenced area has a long, grassy area on the east side and shady trees on the west side. There is a gate at both ends but the entrance in the SE corner has all the facilities including a bin, water tap with bowl and a concrete pad with shallow circular holes which could fill up with water overflow from the tap. The reality is that these holes are a bit grotty.

The area has a number of play areas for dogs such as a row of raised metal circles forming a hurdle course for the right sized dog and a mound with concrete pipe running underneath and tyre steps to the top of the mound where there is a log. There are plenty of logs and stumps for dogs to walk across and lots of totem poles. Dogs are not going to worry about not being able to find something to cock their leg against and have a pee.

If the gate problem was resolved, this fenced dog park could be a real winner.
