Damper Creek Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Mount Waverley)

One end of the walk starts next to the playground at the south end of Park street. A path leads past the playground and follows the east side of the creek. Initially the area beside the creek is fenced off as a re-vegetation zone. After a short while you reach a point where paths on both sides of the creek converge and run close to the creek. The creek is narrow enough to cross at lots of points.

Then you reach a wooden bridge with access steps from the west side (from #23 Bengal Crescent) and a gravel path from the east side (from the north end of Alice Street and Sunhill Road). From this point there is only a track on the east side. Near the bridge is a stone table, erected in November 2008, with wooden seats to commemorate the 40 year formation of the Damper Creek Conservation Development Group. There are information boards and a few seats scattered along the path.

You then come to another bridge with lots of steps leading down the hill from above (from the south end of Tarella Drive). The path then ends at busy Stephensons Road where there is some parking available, opposite Eton Street.

On the west side of the creek, on the return walk you go past Dampier Creek Pond and return to Park Road where there is a water tap and rubbish bin.

Our dog really enjoyed exploring the creek and its banks. The walk is 2.4 km return.

Note: Monash council significantly reduced the off leash area in mid 2023. See the map below.
