Darebin Parklands Dog Off Leash Area (Alphington)

Darebin Parklands Dog Off Leash Area (Alphington)

The main entrance to the park is at the east end of Separation Street. This area has a shelter with tables, water tap and toilets and is a dog on leash area. The off leash area which is located in the north east corner can be a bit hard to find. Follow the stony gravel roads from the entrance to the north east and then head down hill along the track until it opens out into a big grassy area dotted with some trees. Some additional signage for dog owners would be welcome.

There is a good sized area which is bordered by a creek and fringed by trees. The creek forms a deep pool which is a nice area for dogs to have a swim in.

Beware of snakes from October to April. There is an information board about the snake bite procedure which is "Keep your dog still and calm. Carry to your car if possible - the least blood circulation the better. Go to one of the listed vets with supplies of anti-venom".

The park is popular with dog owners and you will meet plenty of dogs while visiting. There isn't a water tap in this off leash area but there are a few seats to rest on.
