Parliament House is open to the public throughout the year. On non-sitting days the building is open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday (but is closed on public holidays). During sitting days the building opens at 8:30 am and remains open while parliament is sitting. The building is not open on weekends (except for special events such as Open Day).

When Parliament is sitting, visitors are welcome to come in and see Parliament in action. The Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly (the Houses) both have public galleries, which are open whenever the House is sitting.

Public tours - Public tours of Parliament are conducted on days when Parliament is not sitting. There is no need to book for groups of less than 6 people. Public tours take place at 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 1.00 pm (Express Tour), 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm , 3.30 pm and 4.00 pm (Express Tour) Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from the Vestibule. Public tours are limited to the first 25 people.
