Toolondo Reservoir (Toolondo)

Toolondo Reservoir (Toolondo)

Toolondo Reservoir is located between the towns of Horsham and Hamilton and is renowned as an outstanding stocked recreational trout fishery but as a secondary water storage facility, its water levels have fluctuated considerably over the last few decades.

Supplied by its own small catchment from Mt Talbot Creek, the lake stores a lot of 'dead water'. This means that water in Lake Toolondo doesn't flow through to another source; it can only be pumped out. The lake is reliant on transfers from Rocklands Reservoir.

There is a caravan park which has onsite vans and camping areas. The most popular activity on the reservoir is fishing but also swimming, water skiing, powerboats and jet skiing are available.

There is a boat ramp at both the northern and the southern ends but these ramps become unusable during periods of drought due to the low water levels.

Next to the reservoir are shelters with BBQs but there is no playground. Toilets and unshaded tables and water tap which is not for drinking. The Toolondo Reservoir is a location for fishing and there is a boat ramp (need a fishing license to fish). The area doesn't look the greatest for swimming for city slickers who are used to nice clear, chlorinated water. The lake is a strange sight with lots of dead trees sticking up out of the water. There are no cats, dogs or camping allowed.
