Freeway Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Mulgrave)

Freeway Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Mulgrave)

The best access to the reserve is via Kernot Avenue. There is parking along this road either near the club rooms for Brandon Park Football Club, where there is a rubbish bin, or further along near the club room for the Waverley City Archers. If you spot an archer or even an arrow it might be best to stay clear of this area.

The Reserve is beside the Monash Freeway and Wellington Road and there is some traffic noise but it is not too obtrusive.

On the western side of the reserve is a huge grassy area with two cricket pitches which has some cricket nets at the north end and some patches of tea-trees and gum trees in the south-east corner to explore.

There is a pedestrian overpass at the north end over the Monash Freeway and it is quite fun to stand over the middle of the lanes and realise how pasta car really travels. It always seems much faster when you are outside the car than in the car.

Up on a little hill, just before you reach the car park for the Waverley City Archers, there is seat beside a water tap for people and a bowl for dogs. The archery area is usually free of archers and is quite large and grassy and has a clump of trees on two sides.

There is a gravel path leading around the outside along the Monash Freeway and Wellington Road which has exercise equipment every 50 -100 metres. The exercise trail will be extended once the earthworks have been completed at the Reserve.
