Fergusons Paddock Fenced Dog Park (Hurstbridge)

Fergusons Paddock Fenced Dog Park (Hurstbridge)

The main issue with this dog park is the lack of parking for visitors. The parking area is perched next to a sharp bend of the road and there is barely space for four or five cars. A path from the car park leads over a bridge and joins a track along Diamond Creek and opens out to a grassy area with a shelter with tables and a BBQ. These areas are dog on-leash areas. It might be better to park along Shanklin Street and take this path to the dog park.

The fenced area for dogs is a good size with an oval shaped gravel path around the inside of the fence. There are small areas of trees, grassy areas and some muddy sections (which you can avoid but dogs seem to be attracted to - what is the lure of drinking water from muddy puddles compared to from a bowl of fresh water?)

There is a double gate at the eastern end where there is a bowl next to a water tank and a huge basket of old tennis balls. Is Hurstbridge the resting place for discarded tennis players after they finish their career with smashed hopes of winning Wimbledon? There is a rubbish bin at the car park.
