Melbourne Cable Park (Bangholme)

Melbourne Cable Park is Melbourne’s newest outdoor recreation facility located at Bangholme in south east Melbourne.

The park includes:

A cable wakeboarding park which has wakeboarding, kneeboarding and waterskiing throughput the year. Cable wakeboarding allows you to wakeboard, kneeboard or ski without a boat. The overhead cable system pulls riders around the lake. Riders grab a handle, take off from the start dock and complete laps of the lake. There are strategically placed obstacles around the lake.

There are two full-size cable systems. On the Main Lake, the cable runs clockwise. On the Front Lake it runs anti-clockwise. Both lakes have a selection of obstacles. There is also a two-tower system which runs back and forth which is ideal for beginners.

An Aqua Fun Park which has inflatable obstacles on the surface where you can bounce, slide and splash your way over the bridges, down the slides, onto the trampoline and through the hamster wheels.

Minimum age is 5 years. Kids under 12 must be accompanied on the water by an adult - Max of 6 kids per accompanying adult. All participants must have basic level of swimming and a reasonable level of fitness. A life jacket which must be worn at all times.

Climb Melbourne is Australia’s newest high-rope adventure. Containing five levels of adventure, Climb Melbourne is the ultimate urban high-rope experience! There is no need for little climbers to miss out! The Kids’ Climb is a lower-level ropes course for 5 to 10-year-olds.

There are two extra climbing activities which are purchased separately:
  • Free Fall – Step off the top of the tower and experience the thrill of the challenge whilst descending safely to the ground
  • Giant Swing – Just like the swing at the playground but this one is a lot bigger…

Conditions for Climbing are:
Urban High Ropes
  • Minimum height: 125cm
  • Kids measuring 125-140cm must be accompanied on the tower by a paying adult
  • Minimum height to use the tower unaccompanied: 140cm

Review:

The Aqua Fun Park was the first part of the water activity complex to open and the site is fenced off from the construction area for the remaining parts. Be prepared to rough it a little including a bumpy pot-holed access road and portaloos.

The inflatable obstacle course is a definitely fun and a little challenging. If you do fall off and end up in the water, don't expect to land in pristine blue swimming pool water, it's more like murky dam water. Enjoy the experience and keep your mouth closed would be the best idea.

There are ten tables along the side of the water with umbrellas for shade.

Take the turn-off from Riverend Road to the National Water Sports Centre to get to the park.

When booking please note the safety conditions including a minimum age of five years and children under 12 must be accompanied on the water by an adult.
