Black Rock Point Beach

Black Rock Point beach is a small beach north of the popular Black Rock beach. It is next to the main Beach Road, but shielded by the vegetated bluff.

The main beach is 120 m long and is composed of medium to coarse sand, which produces a steep beach face and usually no bar. As a result, deep water lies immediately off the beach.

To the north, reefs increase toward Black Rock Point, with a bluff separating the main Black Rock beach from the smaller, reef dominated Black Rock Point beach.

Swimming - An exposed beach, with a steep beach face and deep water off the beach. This makes it good for swimming, but a hazard for young children and non-swimmers. The Point Beach is only suitable at high tide, as the reefs are exposed at low tide.

Black Rock Point beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)

Review:

Just south of the Black Rock Yacht Club is a small beach (120m long) littered with rocks along the beach and water line. The sand is quite coarse and the beach is backed by high unstable cliffs. The beach is in a protection zone and it is not allowed to remove anything including shells.

The beach is only suitable for swimming at high tide due to all the rocks and has deep water. There are far more suitable beaches for a family swim.

At the south end of the beach is a rocky point and around the corner is the long Black Rock beach.
