Point King Beach (Sorrento)

Point King Beach (Sorrento)

Point King beach is used primarily by local residents and boat owners, with limited public access.

Point King is a 20 m high bluff, south of which lie two narrow strips of sand, fronted by 50 to 100 m wide sand and reef flats. The two beaches share the water with several boat sheds and private jetties. The beaches are very protected and are usually calm, with the tidal flats covered at high tide, but exposed at low tide.

Swimming - Best at high tide, however watch the boats, reef flats and jetties.

A bluff-top walking track (Millionaires Walk) runs south from Point King above these two beaches and the adjacent bluffs.

Point King beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 1/10 (Least hazardous). The beach is not patrolled.

Review:

There is very limited parking along Point King Road for access to the beach at the eastern end. There is a sandy beach contained by rocky points at each end. It is a decent width beach backed by eight plain beach huts and split by some private jetties. It's like an amphitheatre with very expensive houses sitting on the cliff above.

Overall, it is a beach which is best left to the locals.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs on leash are permitted on the foreshore except between 9am and 7pm during Daylight Savings Period. At other times dogs are permitted on-leash.
