Strathbogie - Walking Trails

The Strathbogie Shire, local Landcare groups and the Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Management Network has documented a mumber of local walks.

Bridge to Bridge Walking Trail, Strathbogie
Distance: 2 km return
Relative difficulty: Easy. This is an easy walk on mostly flat terrain. The one steep section of the track has a hand-rail.

This walk meanders along the Seven Creeks and Spring Creek behind the township of
Strathbogie. The track also passes the confluence of these two creeks, where the Seven Creeks heads west and flows towards Polly McQuinns Weir.

You’ll walk beneath a canopy of Swamp Gums along the creek where you can see a variety of bird and animal life – ducks, bush birds, even koalas and platypus. Wooden benches are provided at intervals along the track and boards show information on local natural history.

At the southern end of the walk the track loops, so you can choose to walk either along the stream or across the floodplain, which is about 100 m wide here. If the weather has been very wet, or there has been heavy rain, parts of the floodplain track may be under water.

Golden Mountain Walking Trail, Strathbogie
Distance: 4 km return
Relative difficulty: Easy to moderate

The walk starts 23 km from the Strathbogie township. The drive to the start of the walk
is about 25 min by car from Strathbogie or 45 min from Euroa, taking you deep into the
Strathbogie Forest. The walk is recommended as a slow ramble towards the peak of Golden Mountain. Walking along old logging tracks you will pass large moss-covered granite boulders, Ti-tree thickets and eucalypts including Peppermint Gum. At the summit you will be rewarded with magnificent views to the east and west.
