Martha Point Beach / Pebble Beach (Mount Martha)

Martha Point beach is a small, pocket, rock bound and relatively isolated beach for those who want a change from the adjacent long beaches.
On the southern side of Martha Point is a 100 m pocket of sand and cobbles, lying at the foot of steep, 40 m high, vegetated bluffs. It is fronted by a band of intertidal cobbles and rock, with a sandy bay floor lying beyond the rocks. The beach is narrow and steep, with usually low waves at the base of the beach and some surf over the bay floor during strong south-westerlies.
Marine Drive passes around on the bluffs above the beach, while a walking track from Safety Beach to the point provides the best access.
Swimming - Moderately safe during low winds and waves, however watch the rocks at the base of the beach.
Martha Point beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous). The beach is not patrolled.
Review:
Opposite #223 Esplanade is a dirt path with 80 steps which provides access to the beach which is south of Martha Point and also known as Pebble Beach. It is aptly named because the beach is covered by a combination of pebbles, stones and rocks and there are quite a lot of rocks in the water.
There are two unshaded seats looking over the beach and water. The best advice is to sit there are admire the view while finding a better beach to swim at.
