Bullion Park Playground, Woodlea Boulevard, Aintree

There is a battleground between housing estates for the best playground and this is a winner of the battle and possibly the war. Towering above the playground is a huge twisting tunnel slide. Kids were being spat out the bottom of the slide exclaiming "that's awesome". The structure leading up to the slide has steps, ladder, a rope bridge, a bridge made from boards and a number of metal ladders. The long climb up to get to the top of the slide increases the fear and apprehension which is released as you thunder down the slide. Around the base of the slide is a mound with a wave slide, high fireman's pole and single rope traverse.

Beside the slide is a big sandpit surrounded by rocks and covered by a shade sail which has plenty of play opportunities such as a digger, rock tables, little jetty and slide plus three pulleys for hauling up sand in buckets. This is fringed by a climbing area with piled up logs and rope traverse plus an area of soft mounds with two tunnels running underneath and two in-ground trampolines.

On a little hillock is a trail of logs and rocks which you can jump across. On the other side of this area are four swings and two flying foxes (one with a disk seat and the other with a harness seat).

For the sports enthusiasts there is a table tennis table (the bats were there but definitely BYO balls), a basketball court and a reasonable sized grassy oval with football posts at one end. For the parents and older kids there is an outdoor gym in the far corner with sit-up board, chin-up bar, push-up board and leg lift - dip bar.

There is a huge shelter with two tables, four BBQs and water tap. Another shelter has a big seat plus there are more unshaded tables and water taps. The whole area is nicely landscaped with rocks and vegetation. The Go West Tuckshop and Eatery is across the road for the mandatory coffee.

There are toilets in the outside area of the cafe just on the back verandah.

Looking over the oval is a large sign "We love Woodlea". Our family certainly does.
