Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) (Frankston)

Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) is home to the world's first AquaSphere family raft ride, the thrilling Constrictor raft ride and an award winning AquaPlay aquatic playground. There is a state of the art gym, group exercise studios, warm water pool, Swim School, Wellness Centre, creche and cafe.

Facilities include:
  • Heated 10 lane 50m indoor pool. This pool operates as a 25m/20 lane or 50m/10 lane pool at various times of the day
  • Children's / Learn to Swim Pool. This pool is 18m x 4m, and has a depth of 0.55 to 1.0m.
  • Beach Entry / Wading Pool. Splash around in the toddlers pool featuring a shallow beach style entry. It is 10m x 5m and is 0.0m - 0.3m deep. With some bubbles and sprays, toddlers will love it. Our 16m x 6m wading pool is 0.3m to 0.6m deep and has a range of sprays and jets to make it more fun to play in.
  • Warm water exercise pool. It's one of the largest in Victoria and is heated to approximately 34 degrees with ramp access to cater for all abilities (access to the Warm Water pool is limited to ages 16 and over).
  • Spa, sauna and steam room.
  • Python Waterslide - An Australian-first, the Python waterslide is an experience not to be missed. Slither around twists and turns on a raft with up to four people with award-winning exhilarating sound and light technology before you plunge back to reality. The ride is designed for 2 to 4 riders and riders must be at least 110cm tall. If under 10, rider must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
  • Constrictor Waterslide - The 114-metre long Constrictor swallows either a single or a two person raft into its depths, down through a series of spine tingling spirals with tight, high banking turns. The Constrictor lives up to its name with a flume that narrows to 2.1m, expands to 3.1m and then back again to 2.1m. This waterslide's custom designed snake skin like facade brings this waterslide to life, making it a visually exciting addition to PARC. The ride is designed for 1 to 2 riders and riders must be at least 110cm tall. If under 5, rider must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
  • The AquaPlay aquatic playground features three fun slides suitable for toddlers and children to 10 years of age

Review:

PARC has everything you need in an indoor aquatic centre and it all comes at a very reasonable price.

The facilities include a 10 lane 50m pool which has a boom which can split the pool in half. This meant there were plenty of swimming lanes as well as a decent sized area for casual water play which was 25m long where the water depth ranged from 1.35m to 2.1m.

Next to this pool is a learn to swim pool which is up to 0.55m deep and has a wading pool and shallow beach entry area around the outside for younger kids including some water sprays. These areas range in depth from 0.3 to 0.6m.

Nearby is the water playground which has the usual culprits - plenty of slides, sprays, water troughs and a tipping bucket.

Slides are included in the entry price without increasing a family entry price too much. One great feature of this centre is that you don't have to carry heavy rafts up to the top of the slide because a conveyor does all the heavy lifting for you. There are two different types of slides but both use rafts. The Constrictor ride is a more standard ride which twists and turns down to the bottom. There are one and two person rafts available for this ride. The other ride is the Python which has more surprises and was definitely the more popular ride. This has a round raft which either 2, 3 or 4 people can ride.

There are lots of seats for patrons and a decent cafe which serves big servings at fair prices. A drinking fountain is available if you want free tap water to drink.

For adults there is a separate area with warm water pool and spa.
