Top Playgrounds in the South Gippsland Shire Region



The South Gippsland Shire region incudes the towns of Korumburra, Leongatha, Bena, Dumbalk, Foster, Loch, Meeniyan, Mirboo North, Nyora, Stony Creek, Tarwin Lower, Toora, Venus Bay, Welshpool. The best playgrounds in this area are:

Korumburra

Coleman Park, Queen Street, Korumburra

Excellent playground with two large play structures, large atom shaped rope climbing structure, high climbing wall, cone shaped climbing frame which spins around, four shaded swings and a huge shelter with two tables, BBQ and seats.

One structure has dual wave slides, odd shaped ladder, single wave slide, elevated balance beam, ladder with square rungs, hooped step ladder, tic-tac-toe, steps, steering wheel, horizontal bars and monkey rungs.

The other structure has a spiral slide, tunnel, big curved climber, ladder with circle steps, suspended chain ladder, ramps, little cubby with seats underneath and a very long flying fox. Two springers, unshaded tables and some fairly limited grassy area.

Mirboo North

Couper Street, Mirboo North

Plenty of equipment set under shade sails. The main structure has a wave slide, climbing wall, shop front, tic-tac-toe, inclined walkway, steps, panel with animal shapes, small straight slide, hanging chains, hanging disks, monkey bars, chain traverse and curved set of circles which you climb through.

There is a structure for smaller kids with a wave slide, ladder with square rungs, shop front, tunnel, alphabet panel, rigid frame ladder, horizontal bar and balance beam. Also a large dome climbing frame, large sandpit with two mechanical diggers, four swings, two stand-on spinners, horse and kangaroo springers, see-saw and lotus leaf which turns with a hand wheel. There is also a long stand-alone bumpy wave slide about 30m away.

There is a very large shelter with tables and BBQs, unshaded tables, water tap and big grassy area. Next to a Skate Park.

The playground is between the main street and Couper Street. There is access from the main street in the town centre.

Leongatha

McIndoe Park, Cnr Turner St and Bent St, Leongatha

A lovely large playground which is fully fenced and in a lovely setting with lawns and gum trees. There are unshaded and shaded tables, unshaded seats, water tap, toilets and a huge shelter with four BBQs and tables.

The main play structure has a wave slide, layers of plastic rungs to climb up through, traversing section with hanging chains covered in rubber, ramp access, abacus, block steps, cafe shop front, hanging disks, chain traverse, monkey rungs, suspended plastic rungs to crawl along, fireman's pole, climbing wall, small slide and tic-tac-toe. Also a number of play panels including a clock and "Watch Me Grow", see-saw with horse seats, drum set, cute round table and seats, two springers, four swings including one with a harness, lotus leaf spinner with hand wheel, big pyramid rope climbing frame and a sandpit with tunnel and two diggers.

There is a small creek / drain nearby and stepping stones in the shady area under trees.
