Corryong Visitor Information Centre can provide you with great information so you can experience Australia's iconic Man from Snowy River legend and visit the Upper Murray.

Jack Riley, renowned as the real Man from Snowy River who inspired Banjo Paterson with his tales of chasing wild Brumbies in the mountains behind Corryong, Victoria's High Country. This is iconic Australia, this is the home of the legend and the spirit of Jack Riley lives on today in the Upper Murray. Come and be part of the legend.

The Upper Murray region is also home to some of Australia's pristine natural environment located in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains and at the headwaters of the mighty Murray River.

It provides easy access to nearby Kosciuszko National Park and Victoria's Alpine National Park. Of significance is Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park which is home to the largest monolith in the southern hemisphere and features some amazing and unique flora.

Mount Lawson and Mount Granya State Parks also provide magnificent off-road touring experiences. With arguably one of the best climates in Victoria. The region has a pristine environment for visitors to explore and reconnect with nature. Fresh rivers and streams run crystal clear and the mountain air is invigorating.

Take the time to explore Australia's High Country heart by touring the Snowy Valleys Way to Corryong. A natural alternative to travelling the Hume Highway, the Snowy Valleys Way links Wangaratta to Corryong (via Beechworth) and onwards to Gundagai (via Tumbarumba) in New South Wales. You will not be disappointed.

Opening Hours:


9:00am -5:00pm daily. Closed Christmas Day, Good Friday and open only in the morning during Anzac Day.

The Tourist Information Centre has an impressive statue of the Man from Snowy River next to the footpath on the outside, tables to sit at, toilets, a great playground nearby, water tap and is located next to some excellent cafes.
