Benalla Visitor Information Centre

The Benalla Visitor Information Centre is situated on the east bank of Lake Benalla, just across the bridge from the Benalla Art Gallery. Adjacent to the Centre is the Gaudi inspired Ceramic Mural.

The Benalla Visitor Centre is staffed by local volunteers who will help to gain the most from your Benalla experience. A comprehensive range of local and regional brochures is available to help visitors make the most of their visit to the area. Help with local accommodation is also available.

The building also houses the Benalla and District Pioneer and Costume Museum and The Creators Gallery. Please note, fees apply for museum entry.

The Museum has an excellent display of Ned Kelly memorabilia, including the silk cummerbund Ned was wearing when he was captured in 1880 during the siege at Glenrowan. This is displayed in an original police cell that was in use during the reign of the Kelly Gang. A well produced video can be viewed as part of the Kelly display.

Local son's 'Weary' Dunlop and Captain Hector "Hec" Waller are fondly remembered in a display of some of their war time items.

Costumes from different eras are also exhibited. These are themed displays and are changed periodically.

The Creators Gallery offers a range of quality, locally produced crafts and gifts. These include textiles, woodcraft, pottery, and hand made cards. A selection of post cards are also available.

A selection of Ned Kelly, 'Weary' Dunlop and Benalla souvenirs is also available.

Get the most out of your stay by making a visit to the Benalla Visitor Centre your first stop on arrival in Benalla.
