Each Saturday morning there is a great community atmosphere at the track. There are new friendships to be made, different events to try and coaches to help you develop your skills. There are opportunities for both individual and team pursuits. It is a place where boys and girls can compete together. Through the enjoyment of athletics, the children will develop positive attitudes, a healthy lifestyle and enjoy 'Family Fun and Fitness'. Sandringham puts a large emphasis on the child achieving their Personal Best. Each week they will receive a record of the performance and we highlight any PB's they have achieved. Beat your own personal best for a free treat at the canteen!
Little Athletics Sandringham comes under the umbrella of Little Athletics Victoria. Apart from the regular Saturday competition there are many other events and coaching programs run by LAVic. If your child joins our centre they will have the opportunity to compete at Regional and State Events, offering a high standard competition for the budding athlete. LAVic also offers a pathway of coaching, starting with the under 6 boys and girls with their On Track Program, followed by many coaching clinics for each age group up to under 16s. This pathway constantly reinforces and develops the key skills of Running, Jumping and Throwing. All of these skills play an important role in your child's sporting development helping them in other sports they may pursue.
Athletics also offers great opportunities for the parents to get involved in their child's pursuits. We have parents that have taken the path of coaching, officiating, team managers, starters, to event coordinators. There is a very strong education program for the parents with many courses they can participate in to develop their own skills. These pursuits lead to a close participation and journey with their child through their pathway of Little Athletics.
