Marysville Visitor Information Centre

Marysville Visitor Information Centre is nestled in the foothills of Melbourne's closest alpine resort are the quaint villages of Marysville, Buxton, Taggerty and Narbethong. Located only a 90 minute drive from Melbourne, Marysville and surrounds is an ideal destination for adventure, food, wine and getting back to nature.

Marysville was established in 1863 as a stopover for diggers on the way to nearby goldfields. In the 1920s Marysville evolved into a popular honeymoon and resort town, with many guesthouses offering a range of accommodation options. Since that time Marysville has thrived as a tourist town.

The Black Saturday bushfires created another chapter of history in Marysville. Whilst most of the town was destroyed in the 2009 fires, almost five years on, the town is recovering well with many businesses open and ready for your patronage. Take a day trip from Melbourne, or why not stay a while and take in all the region has to offer.

Make the Marysville region your base for bushwalking, trout and salmon fishing, golf, arts and crafts during the warmer months and enjoy skiing, tobogganing and snow play at nearby Lake Mountain during the cooler months. Come and be part of one of the many events that take place in the area including the Marysville Sparkling Wine Festival, picnic race days, markets, music festivals and cycling events.

The picturesque drive from Melbourne to Marysville is part of the appeal. Take the Eastern Freeway through to Ringwood, then follow the Maroondah Highway through Lilydale and Healesville and across the scenic Black Spur to Narbethong.

Tap into all the best Marysville has to offer with the free Visit Marysville app. Jam-packed with ideas and inspiration the Marysville App will help you get the most out of your visit to the Marysville region.
