Alexandra Visitor Information Centre

Alexandra is a neat country town located in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range 130 kilometres north east of Melbourne. Lake Eildon National Park, The snow fields of Mt Buller and Lake Mountain, and the Upper Goulburn River are all only a short drive from Alexandra.

Enjoy natural attractions and wildlife as you explore the history and all Alexandra has to offer.
Alexandra's history dates back to 1824 when it was discovered by Hume and Hovell. Alexandra was originally known as a gold minning town and slowly moved into the timber and agricultural areas over time. Today, Alexandra relies heavily on tourism to sustain its economy.
No matter what season you visit, Alexandra and surrounds will provide you with an experience to remember and cherish. Your experience can commence by popping into the Alexandra Information Centre then visiting our unique attractions. Alexandra is also home to a small number of very popular events that are gaining a national reputation.

Opening Hours:

The Alexandra Visitor Information Centre is manned by volunteers. Opening hours are subject to availability of volunteers. The aim is the be open all hours listed above.

Open 7 days, 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Closed Christmas Day.

Review:

The Visitor Information Centre is set in a lovely big grassy park with two main shelters with a lot of tables and BBQs. There are also toilets, shaded and unshaded tables, water tap and a lovely bushman sculpture. There is a Victorian Truck Drivers Memorial. It seems like all truck drivers must have a nickname. Some of the more interesting knicknames for the drivers honoured here are Cookie, Big Baz, Buffalo, Piano Man, Bones, Little Egg and Cannonball.
