Bright - Scenic Lookouts
There are a number of lookouts near Bright. They are accessible via a car on forestry roads or possibly walking.
Apex Lookout - This lookout overlooks the town from the north. It is reached from the Mt Porepunkah Rd which starts at the town centre, then along a scenic walking track. Communications towers are sited at the summit. There are nice views to the east towards Harrietville and the Alps
Huggins Lookout - This lookout overlooks Bright from the south, and is reached from unsealed Baker's Gully Rd, about 3 km, starting at the end of Cobden St. An observation platform offers magnificent views across the town to Apex Hill and Mt Porepunkah, and east towards Harrietville.
An alternative route is up Huggin's Rd from the east end of the town, off Coronation Drive. A walking track goes direct to the Lookout, starting at the end of Deacon Avenue..
Tower Hill Lookout -This lookout is reached by a steep unsealed road of about 2 km through the pine plantations, starting at the Great Alpine Rd, west of the town, near the Old Tobacco Sheds. There are excellent views to the north and east
Clearspot Lookout - This lookout overlooks Bright from the south, and is not far from Huggin's Lookout. It is reached from a turnoff on the Baker's Gully Rd, starting at Cobden St. The views are similar to Huggin's lookout.
