Tecoma Judo Club

Tecoma Judo Club

The Tecoma Judo Club was founded in 1960 by Sensei Nick Witkamp.

The 1976 Australian Team Champions, including 3 Tecoma Judo Club Members. (Brian Barry, KarlBroecker and Lyle Parry).

All age groups and both sexes can practice the sport of judo together. Judo is a life-time recreational activity that can be practiced by any individual. For competitors, judo is a highly challenging and rewarding sport. Judo offers both formal movement of kata contests as well as one-on-one ground grappling submission and randori matches. For those not interested in competition, judo provides an enjoyable fitness regime and fun recreational activity that emphasizes self defence.

Nick has, in the 50-plus years of training judoka at Tecoma, now seen the third generation of Witkamps pass through his Judo Club, beginning with Nick Junior and continuing with his grandson.

The club operates from Tecoma Primary School.
