Longwood - The Rockery Gemstone Museum

Review:

A wonderful place to visit and learn about gemstones and minerals from the friendly owner Maurice who has an extensive knowledge and plenty of entertaining stories.

There are nine rooms in the museum with themes in each room. The specimens are all well-labelled and neatly displayed. Our favourite was definitely the room with fluorescent minerals. In the back room there are also a collection of old bottles and model cars.

There are items in the museum which are for display only (they are clearly marked) and other items which are for sale. There is beautiful jewellery, vases, chess boards, decorative pieces, birthstones and specimens to enjoy and buy. There is a large range for sale at reasonable prices. You can come to enjoy the museum and will not feel pressured to buy something, although it's easy to find something to buy as a beautiful gift or memento to yourself or a friend.

There are some tables and chairs outside, toilets and a dinosaur in the front garden for the kids.

The museum is located just off the Hume Highway between Avenel and Euroa.
