For a great family day out, you can't beat the Alpine Trout and Fish Farm which offers fishing opportunities for every age and ability. Take advantage of the free rod hire and hook yourself a trout or salmon, or if you're feeling adventurous give fly-fishing a try in the dedicated pond with expert instruction. Afterwards you can cook your spoils in one of the BBQ areas and enjoy a feast including the farm's own smoked trout, dips, caviar and even drinks. Smoked and fresh fish are available for purchase.

The trout farm has deep pools so you need to be watchful with small children. Each pond is about 20m long and 5m wide and they stretched as far as the eyes could see. However, only three were open for fishing. It is very easy to catch fish. So easy in fact that the bill at the end of the fishing session could become very high if you get caught up in the excitement of catching the fish since it is not allowed to throw the fish back. There is no fee for watching but try convincing the kids not to fish! There are BBQs (both shaded and unshaded) provided if you want to cook your own fish on site.
