Morwell - Gippsland Immigration Park

Gippsland Immigration Park celebrates the contribution of immigrants to the development of Gippsland.
Visiting the park you will learn about the history of immigration into Gippsland and the contribution immigrants have made to the Gippsland Region.
The Gippsland Heritage Walk is located around Kernot Lake, Morwell. It comprises 72 panels of information on the history of Gippsland. Start with the Gippsland Immigration Wall of Recognition and then move on to the panels which begin with Gunaikurnai history.
An impressive statue of a migrant with all he owns marks the entrance to the park. Bronze plaques tell the story of the migrants journey to their new homeland.
The park has been designed to cater for family gatherings and community events. There are two covered BBQ areas with electric barbeques. There is a children's playground. A deck is built out over the edge of the lake which provides an area for a range of purposes from weddings to musical events to formal presentations. Toilets are available a short walk away at Kernot Hall.

Review:
A nice area with lovely statue and beautifully created murals / information walls which list all the people who have immigrated to Gippsland from overseas. Can you find someone you know? As well as a playground there is a lake with lots of waterbirds, shelters with tables and BBQs, water tap and the Gippsland Heritage Walk with many murals around Lake Kernot.
