Skinny Park Playground, Bellair Street, Kensington

Skinny Park Playground, Bellair Street, Kensington

It's amazing what you can do with a thin strip of land wedged between railway tracks and a road when you put your mind to it. The far end of this skinny area has a grassy section with some unshaded tables and a BBQ.

A path starts here and curves all the way down the slope. You pass a structure for smaller kids with a metal slide, steps, walkway, shop front, fireman's pole, climbing wall, horizontal bar and suspended walkway. Next down the slope is a bird's nest swing and then a colourful drawing of a town with roads on the ground. Bring your matchbox toy cars to really make use of this.

Then a skinny (of course) structure with multiple levels, dual wave slides, abacus, cubbies, shop front and a little climbing wall. Opposite is a sandpit (actually a coarse sand / gravel pit).

Then a car with space for a driver and three passengers. A painted rail track leads to swings. There are plenty of seats and the playground is quite well fenced off from the road. A bonus is that trains regularly come past. This playground has been upgraded.
